Laser disruption of a floater was performed on Dr. Karickhoff's eye.

He was the discoverer of the cause and the laser surgical treatment of pigmentary glaucoma in April 1992.

He designed what was the world's top selling contact Laser Lens for directing laser surgical beams into the back of the eye.

Dr. Karickhoff has designed the only contact lens for treatment of
non-central floaters. This prismatic lens allows better viewing and
aiming for these more difficult floaters.

He introduced the laser treatment of acute glaucoma to Northern Virginia by performing the first such case in March 1977.
